Helping young adults to heal from the aftermath of their parents' divorce

Young adults from divorced families face many challenges as they struggle with the aftermath of their parents’ divorce. Divorce can cause painful memories and a unique set of challenges in relationships in young adulthood as well as relationships with parents.

Are you going through any of the following challenges?

You worry about being able to have your own healthy dating and peer relationships in spite of your family history of divorce.
You feel sad, angry or stressed when you think about your parents’ divorce.
You feel stuck in the middle of your parent’s conflict.
Have a poor relationship with one or both parents as a result of their behavior during and/or after the divorce

If any of these sound true for you , I want you to know that even though you feel alone and it might feel like no one will understand, many young adults are struggling with these issues too.

Group therapy can help you get back on the right path.

It's possible for you to get to a better place

IMAGINE IF YOU COULD...

Stop having painful memories of the divorce.
Have healthier peer and dating relationships.
Stay out of the middle of your parent’s conflict.
Take charge of your relationships with each of your parents.

How Group Works

1

First, I welcome you into a safe group of peers. You will have the opportunity to share things that are important to you with the group. You will have the choice to just listen, or share something if you want to.

2

Through hearing other’s stories, you will start to see that you all have similar situations and you are not alone.

3

Group members will provide emotional support and advice if you invite them to.

4

As group progresses, you will have the opportunity to make connections and build trust with other group members.

5

Over the course of the group sessions, you will come to utilize group to cope with strong emotions and to help you manage the situation with your family’s divorce as well as in any area of your life that you want to share.
